Giving birth in Taiwan. (Taipei)

I am an American who will be moving to Taiwan for my husband to finish his degree. We will be expecting a child while in Taiwan and I am curious how things differ from America, if anything at all. I've heard a few horror stories but I'm not sure I totally believe them (labor and delivery in a large room with many other mothers doing the same. Mandatory episiotomies etc...)
