Deutsche Internationale Schule/Dufferin vs Oakvill (Toronto)

Hello All,

I have enrolled my daughter into Deutsche Int Schule in Toronto as German is her second mother tongue after 5 years in Switzerland. The school is in Dufferin near Bloor st. We love Oakville very much and would like to make our home there. We fear however that it might be pretty long commuting (car, train ?) every morning. Where would you recommend to rent at certain proximity and/or easy access to Dufferin and Bloor ? Is public transport good for getting to Toronto downtown from Oakville ? I am asking because I have noticed that Canada is pretty much car-driven country comparing to some countries in Europe where you hop on/off the train in any place...
Will be grateful for any advice or suggestion.
