• The nature and weather are stunning. 87% of expats in Turkey rate the natural environment positively and 71% the climate and weather (vs. 58% globally).

• Food, culture, and warm people are the heart of it. Cuisine, history, and genuine hospitality come up constantly as what makes daily life rich.

• Getting around and travelling are easy. 82% rate the availability of public transportation positively, and Turkey's location makes discovery simple.

• It's affordable and safe. Canadians note the low cost of living against a euro or dollar income, and 78% rate personal safety positively.

• The economy is the biggest strain. Inflation weighs heavily — just 16% of expats in Turkey rate the state of the economy positively and 23% the general cost of living.

• Politics and visas worry people. Only 30% rate political stability positively, and sudden policy changes and visa refusals come up.

• Cities can feel harsh. Noise, traffic, and a lack of green space draw complaints, and air quality rates 59%.

• Careers are limited. The local job market rates 30%, and pay structures disappoint.

For Canadians, Turkey offers stunning nature, wonderful food, warm people, and a low cost of living against a foreign income. The trade-offs are economic and political: inflation, instability, and visa uncertainty. Overall happiness (58%) sits below the global average of 70%.
