Invites you and your friends to a lecture on Contemporary Art of Guangdong
Wang Huangsheng, Director of the Guangdong Museum of Art (GDMofA) and renowned artist, will discuss history and development of art in Guangdong, and take note of how it differs from cultural innovations in places like Beijing and Shanghai. Director Wang will introduce the Third Guangzhou Triennial, set to run September 6-November 16 this year, with Protected content contributing to the theme “Farewell to Post Colonialism.” Join us after the lecture for a guided tour of the Triennial, considered one of China’s most avant-garde art events and emblematic of the province’s artistic identity. Director Wang Huangsheng is concurrently Director of the Chinese Art Society, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Artist Association and an active member of the Experts Committee of the China National Art Gallery and the Chinese Museum. He received his doctorate degree in Art History from the Nanjing Art Institute. Director Wang’s art has been the subject of several books and he himself has written several works on art history and criticism. Director Wang holds honorary professorships at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Nanjing Art Institute and South China Normal University. He is a member of the 9th Political Consultative Conference of Guangdong Province. He is the chief editor of the periodical “Art Museum.” Director Wang has been awarded the Chevalier of Art and Literature by the Culture and Communication Department of France and the Knight Medal by the Italian President.
