Hi everybody, we will have a slightly different event in August, but all the more exciting! We haven’t done speaker events for a while, and this time we will have two speakers focusing on start-ups.

One of our speakers will be Kumi Ito. Kumi has spoken at numerous events, including ‘Eye for Pharma`, in the past. Former Chief Marketing Officer at GE, she now runs 4U Lifecare, which is an Uber-like start-up company matching nurses with hospitals. She is also involved in Yext, which is listed on the NYSE but is starting in Japan, as Chief Marketing Officer. She will speak about the differences between working at some large firms such as GE and IBM compared to a start-up, and the challenges start-ups face, alongside the opportunities.

Carrying on the start-up theme, Yanying Deng, will speak from TeamZ Live Entertainment. Many start-up firms struggle to get finance, and need finance, in a market like Japan where banks are conservative. Yanying will speak about some of the upcoming `matching` events the firm will do between international businesses and firms in Japan, alongside how the company is a bridge between Japan, China and the US.

The event will start at 7pm, and the speaker events will continue, alongside breaks and networking, until around 9pm. After 9pm, we will go to a (optional) after drinks get together in a local bar, for a nijikai.
As a quick note, in previous speaker events, we haven’t charged to get in, but people would usually buy at least Protected content , as the events was in a bar, so most people would spend at least Protected content . This event is within a conference room, so there is no additional cost at the venue, apart from the 1,000 yen, so this represents good value.
