The Union of Romanian Principalities

The Union of Romanian Principalities
The Romanian Academy in Rome presents a documentary from the National History Museum through images and archival documents and heritage objects that aim to highlight the links between Romania and Italy consolidated over time, based on cultural and linguistic affinities and defined by the personalities of the two countries, who have contributed to building their independent and sovereign nations in a Europe of peace and values.
To celebrate the Day of the Union of Romanian Principalities, the Romanian Academy in Rome, in collaboration with the National History Museum of Romania, offers a Facebook documentary material that evokes the historical parallelism of the processes of unification and formation of the national state in the Italian peninsula and in the Carpathian-Danubian-Pontian space.
Linguistically and culturally reborn, Romania took the Italy of the Risorgimento as model.
The Romanian national program was formed at the same time as the Italian one and the invitation to establish the most striking of parallels was implicit in those who looked at Italy with a singular eye.
