Picnic With Friends in Central Park
Let's get together for a much awaited picnic in Central Park. Let's enjoy the park, the spring and each other's company.
Please bring picnic food/drinks for yourself and to share with the rest of the group. Alcoholic beverages are generally not allowed in the Park, but if we are discreet, it could be ok.
Also, please bring blankets to sit on and outdoors games such as freesbee, balls, badminton, etc.
We will meet on the beautiful East Meadow, close to the E 97th St and 5th Ave entrance.
****
The East Meadow area was originally envisioned as part of an arboretum that was never built. But it has always been a place of magnificent trees, including some of Central Park’s prized American elms.
The East Meadow is one of the Park’s three major meadows—expansive open spaces that were intended to evoke the countryside and provide a respite from the confined conditions of urban life. In Protected content , the Central Park Conservancy restored the meadow and installed three clay-surfaced areas that allow for more active play in concentrated areas.
