From tonight, the Opera and Culturebox websites will put a performance online, free of charge, available for six days. At the end of this period, the show will give way to another proposal and so on until May.
When Father Prévost signed in Protected content History of the Chevalier des Grieux and Manon Lescaut - who would inspire Massenet, his Manon - it was the painting of an era that he gave us: that of the Regency, which sees the old society is dying out while a new one seems to be born, full of the promise of new freedom. It is between these worlds that Manon evolves, fleeing the convent to embrace the paths of desire and transgression, and throw herself headlong into a burning and self-destructive passion with Grieux. A parenthesis opens, which will close in pain and at night.
Director Vincent Huguet frees himself from the historic taffeta of the work to bring out all the violence.
