Balze Del Valdarno: Cliffs, Springs & Hidden Canyons

Dear group,

join us for a scenic hike through one of Tuscany’s most unique and inspiring landscapes!

Starting from the historic village of Piantravigne, we'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Balze, the striking sandstone cliffs that inspired Renaissance artists, including Leonardo da Vinci.
Following the CAI 51 trail, we'll visit the famous Acqua Zolfina spring before reaching the charming medieval village of Castelfranco di Sopra. T
he route then continues along the evocative Sentiero delle Fossate, winding through deep gullies, dramatic rock formations and some of the most scenic viewpoints in the area. A
fter exploring the heart of the Balze, we'll return to Piantravigne, completing a fascinating loop rich in nature, geology and history.

Required equipment:
Suitable clothing for the weather forecast, comfortable shoes and at least 1.5 L of water.

After the hike, those who wish can join an optional dinner at a local restaurant. Venue to be confirmed.

Carpooling will be attempted, but seats for everybody cannot be guaranteed. Please consider using your own transportation and, if possible, offering seats to other participants.
