Yabusame Viewing in Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Kamakura

Yabusame is a ritual that features archers dressed as samurai from the Kamakura period riding on horseback and shooting at three targets set up on the shrine grounds.
It has been performed for Protected content , dating back to the time of Minamoto no Yoritomo. Conducted with great vigor and overseen by the Ogasawara head family, among others, the ceremony vividly evokes the spirit of the Kamakura period.

This is an annual event, and it falls on a Wednesday this year. It will be crowded, so we'll head to the shrine early enough to secure a good spot to watch. We'll then have to wait for the archers to begin. So, bring drinks, snacks, sunscreen, and a hat/cap.
