“No offense, but you’re not my type…” - workshop
Dear the Hague Professionals,
Your invited to join our next workshop where we'll get an introduction to the personality types assessment according to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).
The workshop will be led by Mary Ellen Brennan, experienced human resources professional and coach.
After the two hour session there will be an opportunity to network and socialize among the participants at the same location.
“No offense, but you’re not my type…”
Understanding Personality Type Through the Myers Briggs Type Indicator
“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.” Carl Jung
Work is full of meetings, calendar crunching, and phone calls. It never ends! At the end of the day, you find yourself tired, drained and you only have energy to watch a film on Netflix. You earned it after a hard days’ work. Then private life interrupts and you break down. You’ve exploded at your family without meaning it. Should you feel so stressed by the people you love?
Even a nice holiday is no escape. Before your flight, you researched the history and tourist sites of your destination. You’ve written an itinerary for every day: restaurants, concerts, and must-see sights. You try to involve your partner in the planning, but their idea of the perfect holiday is “spontaneous” sleeping on the beach chair doing nothing or they say “we will figure it out when we get there.”
Why doesn’t your spouse/partner show any interest in your plans?
These above examples show preferences that aren’t simply good or bad; better or worse. They are preferences we are born with! Through better understanding of our preferences and utilizing our non-preferred style, we can improve many aspects of our life.
In this workshop you will learn about the four pairs of preferences (according to the MBTI) and what characterizes each preference.
You will work in small groups to analyze your preferences for creating energy (I vs. E) and dealing with an uncertain world (J vs. P), etc. Information will be provided so that participants can self-assess their preferences, but an official MBTI assessment will not be administered due to time and cost constraints.
Participants are open and free to share as much or as little as they want about their preferences in this safe space.
