Rakugo is a Japanese traditional performing art. It is best described as “Sit-down comedy”.

Rakugo, the Japanese art of storytelling, was as a form of entertainment for ordinary people during the Edo period ( Protected content ). The performance starts with small talk and then goes into the Rakugo story. All that is required is a folding fan, a hand towel, and imagination pf the performer.

In “the conference ” Rakugo, kézako” we will learn what distinguishes Rakugo from Edo time to Kamigata from Osaka, become acquainted with the story of the monk Anrakuan Sakuden, and meet Cyril Coppini, a French performer of today.

The event is free but you have to book a ticket and register (ticket at 0 euros) on the Maison de la Culture et du Japon website, in order to get your free ticket.
