Synopsis
Summer Protected content . A typhoon threatens a village nestled between a river and a forest. During a kamishibai session, young Yucha discovers the legend of Oyo, a heartbroken girl who drowned there, triggering violent floods. Tasked with performing a perilous ritual at the site of the tragedy to appease the spirit of the river, he embarks on a journey of discovery. Part ecological fable, part ode to tolerance, Masakazu Kaneko has created a spellbinding tale of magical realism, blending legend and personal quest.

Masakazu KANEKO
Born in Tokyo in Protected content , Masakazu KANEKO studied at Aoyama Gakuin University and then at the Film School of Tokyo under Takahisa ZEZE. After several short films, he directed his first feature film, The Albino's Trees Protected content , which won numerous awards. This was followed by Ring Wandering Protected content , winner of the Golden Peacock, and River Returns Protected content , which has already won awards in Gijón and Porto. A rising filmmaker, he enjoys the support of the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs.
