History in Time, Space, and of People :
Introduction to Chronology/Datation, Historical Geography, and Genealogy as the Three Fundamental Auxiliary Sciences
History deals with the activities of people, over time, on our planet. Thus, we need to be able to answer several fundamental questions, before even getting started with the complexities of interpreting sources and trying to ascertain meaning.
1. When are we, or when did this event take place, or when was this artifact created? This leads us to chronology and datation.
2. Where are we? This leads us to historical geography, determining the location of historical events and processes, and the impact of humans on the environment, and the environment on humans.
3. Who are we? No (wo)man is an island, and we are embedded, genealogically, in families and clans that determine our selves and our social interactions, both backward and forward in time. This leads us to genealogy
