Russian Culinary Traditions for Russian Language Learners
Immerse yourself in Russian culture through food, conversation, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere. This interactive event is designed for learners of all levels—no passive listening, but active participation: cooking, discussing, playing, and speaking Russian in a relaxed setting.
A highlight of the event is a mini-lecture on Russian cuisine as a key part of everyday life. Discover how culinary traditions developed, the role of the traditional oven, the origins of simple and hearty dishes, and how food culture continues to evolve. Together, we’ll explore iconic dishes like borsch, shchi, porridge, and pancakes, and reflect on connections between food, climate, and seasonality.
The cooking session becomes hands-on language practice: participants will prepare potatoes in the coals and cook sausages over the fire while learning useful vocabulary and conversational phrases.
We’ll finish with a cozy shared meal—enjoying freshly cooked food, tea, and informal conversation that helps naturally reinforce your Russian.
