Steam Train + Hike / PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION / 18 km 5 h 30
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE SIGNING UP - EARLY START, LONG DAY - RESERVATION NECESSARY
There is a narrow gauge railway running from Brohl in the Rhine valley up into the Eifel hills. On weekends they still have some steam trains running. To catch the steam service we will have to leave Wiesbaden early on Sunday morning and take the train to Brohl via Mainz. Grab a seat on the right hand side of the train and get your cameras ready: you will see castle after castle as we pass through the Rhine valley.
At Brohl we will change to the steam train and go up to the village of Burgbrohl. From there we will hike along a trail that leads us through forests and gorges, with views into the Brohl valley, the lake of Laach and towards the Rhine. We will end the hike in Andernach, an old walled town on the Rhine, and can enjoy some food and local wines.
We will take the train back from Andernach via Koblenz to Wiesbaden.
The hike is around 18 km long and will take 5:30 h plus breaks. See the trail here: Protected content

As we will be a rather large group I have to reserve places on the steam train. So please make sure that you can come on the trip BEFORE you sign up. If something comes up, please cancel so someone else can take your place. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS - thanks a lot!
