A Winter Walk Around Frozen Topuklu Pond
What do you do when you come across a crystal-clear lake that’s completely frozen?
You walk around it, of course.
Join us for a refreshing winter walk around Topuklu Pond, tucked away in the Lakes Region of the Bolu Mountains. At 1,280 meters above sea level, this hidden highland gem offers crisp mountain air, breathtaking snowy landscapes, and a peaceful escape into nature.
Topuklu Pond is a slightly isolated lake, even used at times by Fenerbahçe football players for training. Fed by natural spring water flowing down from the mountains, it is home to mirror carp, common carp, and Dutch yellow carp. In winter, the pond transforms into a magical frozen mirror, surrounded by snow-covered highlands.
Our walk continues along 5 km of forest paths, winding through Scots pine, fir, beech, and hornbeam trees. Expect the quiet beauty of snow-laden branches and the satisfying crunch of untouched powder snow beneath your feet.
After the walk, we’ll warm up at a cozy café, gathering around a traditional stove with the comforting crackle of burning wood. Enjoy the aroma of mulled wine, along with BBQ snacks and hot soup, while watching the snow fall outside.
Come and experience the snow-white beauty of nature—mixed with a touch of local culture, plenty of fun, friendship, and laughter.
PS. In case of heavy snow fall: 2.5Km walk around the frozen lake only.
