Internatonal Jazz Day in Hamburg
Jazz brings people together—across generations, cultures, and borders. That is precisely why UNESCO designated April 30 as International Jazz Day in Protected content . Since Protected content , this day has been celebrated worldwide as a tribute to a music that stands for artistic freedom, dialogue, peace, and cultural diversity.
We look forward to experiencing this special evening in Hamburg in the Alfred Schnittke Akademie International together with you and invite you to a concert featuring the extraordinary artist Hania Derej. Hania is a composer, pianist, arranger, and conductor, and at just 21 years old, she has already written over Protected content , many of which can now be heard on ten albums.
Following her solo concert, Hania Derej will perform with selected young artists from the Hamburg music scene: Samantha Wright (clarinet), Rafa Müller (drums), Henning Schiewer (bass).
Additionally we are especially looking forward to Vladyslav Sendecki, one of Europe’s most renowned jazz pianists.
Dancing into May: Jazz Dancefloor with the Institute of Sounds
Afterward, the Institute of Sounds—the Hamburg-based DJ collective led by Max Stark, Saudi, and Emin Organic—will spin tunes to kick off May: jazz, soul, samba, Afrobeat, Anatolian rock, tropical disco, and conscious hip-hop.
