Martha Argerich in Hamburg - Japan Meets Beethoven
Please join me for an extraordinary music event with and extraordinary artist.
When Far Eastern ritual art meets European musical icons, the result is an evening of rare intensity: at this year’s Martha Argerich Festival, a fascinating dialogue between cultures unfolds at the Laeiszhalle. The program opens with the poetic Japanese Nō theater piece »The Postman of Nagasaki«—archaic, meditative, and deeply expressive, performed by masters such as Shōnosuke Ōkura and Yasushi Umewaka.
After the intermission, the evening bridges the gap to Ludwig van Beethoven: With electrifying presence, Martha Argerich and Maxim Vengerov continue the project they began at the »Opening Night« and dedicate themselves to two of his passionate violin sonatas. »Japan Meets Beethoven I« is an extraordinary concert experience between silence and storm, tradition and virtuosity—an evening that lingers long in the memory.
Tickets are still available, but you'll need to hurry if you want to buy one. My ticket is for row 29, seat 16.
