Hi travelers,

In November I had the opportunity to explore Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom tucked away between China and India on the Himalayas’ eastern edge that is known for its monasteries, fortresses, dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains, and last but not least its innovative Gross National Happiness Index.

Bhutan isn't exactly a backpackers destination. The isolated country only opened to foreigners in Protected content most visitors still cannot travel independently in the kingdom but have to go through an officially approved tour agency. Conscious of the impact mass tourism can have, the number of tourist visa that Bhutan hands out every year are also limited.

SInce this should be an experience of a lifetime, I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you after the trip (and telling you what a Thunder Dragon has got to do with it 😉).

FYI: due to popular demand and since I like to keep my activity crowds small, I planned a 2nd session of this activity for January Protected content . Have a look at the calendar: Protected content
