Breaking the Waves. Conversations About Architecture

Architecture has a unique impact on the world. It shapes our lives and our cities. Le Bicolore at the Maison du Danemark in Paris presents a series of three exceptional encounters with the most stimulating minds in contemporary European architecture. Between France, Denmark, and Brazil, three unique conversations explore the shared future of our inhabited environments, in an emblematic venue celebrating 70 years of Danish cultural presence in the heart of Paris.
In these series of Architectural Lectures/Encounters, I propose to attend the one with BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, Agence Triptyque and Marion Waller (general director of Pavillon de l'Arsenal) :
In architecture, should we oppose economy and ecology?
Can we reconcile ecology and economy? Should we not sacrifice one for the other? Should we renovate rather than build? Should we prioritize low-carbon materials? Should we imagine reversible buildings? While the political support for restrictive measures seems to be receding, are architects ready and able to stay the course?
Discussion moderated by Catherine Sabbah (Director of Idheal).
The entrance is free but take into account that it canoe very crowded so it is recommended to come in advance. After the talk we will go for a drink to share our impressions and ideas.
