"Trials & Tributaries: Recent Bivalve Restoration in Newtown Creek” is an evening session hosted by Newtown Creek Alliance and the Billion Oyster Project, focused on nature-based restoration in Newtown Creek and New York Harbor. Participants will hear about recent intertidal projects, lessons learned from ongoing monitoring, and how oysters and mussels act as filter feeders to help improve urban water quality, including insights into project design and permitting challenges.
The second part of the event features artist Priscilla Stadler, who will share her research on historic mussel populations in the Creek and lead a hands-on printmaking activity using custom stencils and fabric. Attendees are welcome to bring their own T-shirts or other fabric to print on.
