The New American Landscape ~ Identity&Connection as A Lightscape
Join me for an afternoon at Lightscape, Doug Aitken’s immersive seven-screen installation at The Shed—a powerful exploration of identity, connection, and transformation in contemporary America.
Blending film, music, architecture, and live performance, Lightscape follows a diverse cast of characters across striking landscapes, from vast deserts and mountains to automated factories and digital worlds. Featuring performances by Natasha Lyonne and an original musical collaboration with the LA Phil and LA Master Chorale, the work brings together compositions by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, Beck, and others to create a deeply moving visual and sonic experience.
Described by The Shed's Artistic Director Alex Poots as “one of those very rare artworks that invites us to think about who we are, and where we come from,” Lightscape offers a timely reflection on a world in constant change—one that is ultimately about connectivity, struggle, hope, and the possibilities of what lies ahead.
Come experience this immersive artwork and explore one of New York’s most compelling exhibitions of the season.
