Stoos - Klingenstock - Fronalpstock - Stoos
The ridge hike from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock offers one of the most spectacular views in Central Switzerland. An afternoon hike will allow us avoid the morning crowds. To get there: Take the B Protected content (direction Muotalhal, Hölloch) or drive to the Stoosbahn Talstation (Schwyz, Stoosbahn). We will experience the steepest funicular railway in the world as it transports us to the car-free village of Stoos, Protected content above sea level. The Stoos funicular railway has a gradient of 110%, with round cars that roll gently to keep riders upright at all times. From Stoos, we will hike up through the forest and rocky landscape to Klingenstock (the chair lift is not open until June). The ridge hike from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock takes about 2 hours. We will take the Klingenstock chair lift back to Stoos, where anyone who has time can join us for an Apero. The traditional "Swiss way" is to hike up and take transport down - otherwise we'll find ourselves unable to walk for days! These are some of the most stunning views in Switzerland if the weather cooperates. If we have rain or heavy clouds on Saturday, we'll shift to Sunday.
