The Four Lakes Hike: Engleberg - Jochpass - Melchsee-Frutt
The Four Lakes route begins with a cable car ride from the mountain village of Engelberg up to the mirror-smooth Trübsee. We hike up over the Jochpass and then descend into the valley below, where we will encounter the deep blue Engstlensee, the turquoise Tannensee, and the picturesque Melchsee while we enjoy views of the distant Bernese Alps.
We will then descend to the deep blue Engstlensee and then further up a path that becomes steeper as we approach the Tannalp. We will pass the Tannensee and Melchsee as our route runs over the high plateau to Melchsee-Frutt. For those who have a long trip home, we can travel by gondola to Stöckalp, but if you have time and energy you can choose to hike down. From Stöckalp, the Protected content goes to the Sarnen Bahnhof, where you can catch a train home (or back to Engelberg if you parked your car there).
