Stoos - Klingenstock - Fronalpstock - Stoos
This 4.5 km ridge hike from Klingenstock to Fronalpstock is rated T3 on the SAC scale, so you need to be fit to take it on! Is it worth it? You bet. This hike offers some of the most spectacular views in Switzerland. It is a ridge hike, but expect a steep, chain-secured descent to Furggeli, and a total elevation gain of up to Protected content on the way up to Fronalpstock.
To get there: Arrive via SBB at the Schwyz Bahnhof, then take the B501 bus (direction Muotalhal, Hölloch) to the Stoosbahn Talstation (Schwyz, Stoosbahn). Drivers, feel free to park at the Talstation and meet us there at 8:25 am! We will experience the steepest funicular railway in the world as it transports us to the car-free village of Stoos, Protected content above sea level. The Stoos funicular has a gradient of 110%, with round cars that roll to keep riders upright at all times. A 15 minute walk from the village takes us to the Klingenstock chair lift, which will bring us up to the ridge. When we arrive at Fronalpstock, it's time for lunch! Bring your own, or try the self-service restaurant. From Fronalpstock, another pair of chair lifts will carry us back down to Stoos. There, we can enjoy a nice cold beverage and perhaps a delicious slice of Kuchen. You can choose to return home via the Stoos funicular, or take the Morschach cable car if it's more convenient.
