"Blackshirts & Reds": Book Summary, Part 2
NYC Harlem-born political/social science lecturer Michael Parenti was the author of many provocative books about history and politics. He was also an unrepentant communist, and this got him into endless trouble with both the authorities and his employers. He died in January this year.
Parenti was a much-overlooked contemporary of Left politics' then-darling thinker Noam Chomsky (from the Protected content on), and like the latter he also presented a blistering critique of the role of media in capitalist society. However, since Chomsky's fall from grace after his Epstein Files double life was exposed, Parenti's books are finally getting the attention that they long deserved.
We will watch a video podcast summary of the concluding chapters from one of his books entitled 'Blackshirts & Reds', where he points out what he saw as the essential differences between fascism and 'actually-existing socialism'. He also draws attention to the role of Western media and intellectuals in deliberately confusing these two diametrically opposed social forces, and masking the truth.
The video will be followed by a respectful discussion open to all attendees. We previously showed Part 1 of this book summary podcast in our July 28 event.
