ROYA: Iranian Film & Talk With Director - Farsi + German Subs
The teacher Roya is in Tehran's Evin Prison because of her political beliefs. There, she is faced with a choice: give a forced confession on television or continue to remain locked up in her three-square-meter cell. Due to a death in the family, she is allowed three days on prison leave to make the decision. Mahnaz Mohammadi describes solitary confinement and the time afterward based on her own prison experience.
"Roya" shows how internal and external pressure affect the psyche, perception, and self-esteem.
