Photography Finissage | Hommage on Nicéphore Niépce
Hi photography enthusiasts 😃
Lets discover this time the world’s first photograph - a piece of history! Pewter, asphalt, lavender were the ingredients; sun provided the energy. About Protected content ago, Nicéphore Niépce Protected content succeeded in creating a heliograph that is now considered the world’s first photograph: "View from the Window at Le Gras" depicts the view of his home in Burgundy.
This unique piece marks a milestone in human history: Niépce’s alchemical experiments gave birth to the epochal invention of photography, an achievement we will discover at an exhibition at Schaelpic Photokunstbar. 24 photographers have been invited to create a work inspired by this first photograph using strictly analog methods.
Analog photography results from direct, continuous physico-chemical processes that - interact with and are dependent upon - the real world. In digital photographic process "photography after photography" the image is the result of discretized analog signals from the world; a feat in itself. In contrast, image generators based on large language models, whose world knowledge derives solely from images and whose output relies on purely linguistic descriptions, while generating replicas of expected experiences.
