Winery & Astronomy ~ One Hour's Drive From DC
We'll start the evening at a picturesque Winery in the Delaplane region just north of I-66. The exact winery can be confirmed a week ahead of the event only in order to ensure it will not be reserved on 7/26 for a private event. Preferred choice for July 26 is Protected content ; to be confirmed. You can bring food along. If we leave the winery early then can have dinner before the astronomy event.
After 8:30 PM, we will head for the Astronomy event...
Astronomy requires at least partly clear skies, so if the weather forecast indicates Cloudy Skies or Rain then the Astronomy event following Winery at least will be canceled.
* No Alcohol in Sky Meadows Park *
* No Pets At All *
* Bring along a lawn chair or blanket-spread if you will need either *
At Sky Meadows, we'll join a public Astronomy event:
The event begins with a half-hour children’s “Junior Astronomer” program from 8:00 PM till 8:30 PM, followed by a discussion on the importance of dark skies and light conservation. Then a NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) Ambassador will present the latest news in astronomy.
Thereafter, get oriented to the celestial skies with a brief sky tour. Join Northern Virginia Astronomy Club members in viewing the night sky.
NOVAC members have advanced telescopes on site to view some of the galaxies, globular clusters, planets, stars. You can bring your telescope along to explore freely.
Any questions then please message me.
