Discovering the North Caucasus: North Ossetia,Chechnya,Dagestan
An unusual journey to discover the heart of the North Caucasus, a little-known region untouched by mass tourism, brimming with stories, myths, traditions, and unique landscapes, spanning North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Chechnya, and Dagestan. A region inhabited by peoples of diverse origins and religions, marked in the past by painful chapters of history, which today enhance its uniqueness and emotional intensity. A road trip through the intriguing and rugged mountain range nestled between the shores of the Black and Caspian Seas, a region comprised of a mosaic of peoples where the guest is still sacred, nature is pristine, and time seems to have stood still. We will explore natural beauty, accompanied by gorges, canyons, rivers, and breathtaking panoramas. We will experience the thrill of sand dunes where we would not expect to find them. We will stop at the "Gates of Alexander the Great," an ancient gateway to Europe from the East. We'll skirt the ancient frontier of the tsars. We'll wander through abandoned villages like the "city of the dead," among the ancient towers scattered throughout the area, and the remains of historic fortresses. We'll see the monuments celebrating the USSR's victory in World War II and the last surviving statues of Stalin. We'll head to Beslan, a place sadly infamous for the terrorist attack on School No. 1, which killed more than Protected content , many of them children. We will fall in love with one of the last remaining “real” strips of land.
