“Tarab Ensemble is an acclaimed Melbourne-based musical collective founded in Protected content Palestinian-Australian musician and intellectual Yousef Alreemawi. The ensemble is highly regarded as one of Australia’s leading groups dedicated entirely to instrumental classical Arabic music, combining traditional elements with Western orchestration—often described as "classical Arabic music with a twist."
The word "Tarab" itself is an Arabic term capturing the state of deep emotional pleasure, ecstasy, or enchantment induced by great music. While it started with multi-faith Arabic-speaking musicians from Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt, the group has grown into a highly diverse ensemble that includes non-Arab musicians from Australia, Iran, Armenia, and Japan.”
