Cafezinho e Musical journey through the Palops - Mosambik
today´s musical journey will take us to ... Mosambik.
Marrabenta was born in the Protected content as a cultural resistance, mainly in the suburbs of Lourenço Marques.
It merged traditional rhythms such as magika, xingombela and zukuta, then joined the influence of the black South African bands and the daily themes, with the occasional social criticism and the longings for freedom of an urban population. It began with traditional and other improvised instruments, including tin guitars, which later combined with conventional instruments.
As important as music is dance, made of accentuated waist movements, of an energetic gliding of feet, of broken gestures that are, it is said, at the origin of the name, as if the body were "bursting" from so much dancing.
Prepare to dance a bit:-)
