HOLI HAI Festival of Colors
Holi is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrating spring, love, new beginnings, known as the "Festival of Colors," where people joyfully throw colored powders & water, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil & the arrival of spring after winter.
Rooted in Hindu mythology, it marks the divine love of Radha & Krishna & celebrates the victory of good over evil, with festivities including music, dancing, & feasting, fostering unity & forgiveness.
What to expect & how to prepare:
-The Atmosphere: Filled with music, dancing, & people shouting, "Happy Holi!". It is a high-energy, messy, & loud celebration.
-Safety: The festival can get crowded, overzealous, but friendly.
-What to Wear & Protect: Wear old, white clothing that you are prepared to ruin. Use protective, inexpensive sunglasses to keep powder out of your eyes. Cover your hair with a hat or scarf, as dyes can stain.
CARRY A TOWEL, CHANGE OF CLOTHES. To prevent your car from getting messy!!
-Skin Protection: It is recommended to slather your skin & hair in oil or moisturizer beforehand to create a barrier, making the color easier to wash off later.
-Valuables: Do not keep your phone, camera, or wallet, on you when you play, as they will likely get soaked or stained.
-Food & Drink: Enjoy traditional treats like Gujiya(sweet pastries) & Thandai (a milk drink).
-Embrace the chaos with the phrase, "Bura na mano, Holi hai!" (Don't mind, it's Holi!).
- Car pool is recommended. I plan to drive so can take 3 or 4 folks
