STRING BY STRING - Side by Side
This program invites the audience on a musical journey through the world of Romanticism, focusing on expressiveness, lyrical depth, and virtuoso brilliance. The unusual yet intimate combination of violin and guitar opens up new timbres and lends familiar works a special transparency and warmth.
The program begins with Franz Schubert's Sonata “Arpeggione,” a masterpiece full of songfulness and inner peace. The three movements—Allegro moderato, Adagio, and Allegretto—reflect Schubert's typically poetic musical language and unfold an intimate dialogue between the two instruments.
The Meditation from “Thaïs” by Jules Massenet is one of the most famous lyrical solo pieces in music history. Its floating melody and spiritual depth create a moment of quiet contemplation.
Camille Saint-Saëns' Introduction et Rondo capriccioso brings virtuoso brilliance and spirited contrasts to the program. Passionate drama meets playful lightness here.
Cécile Chaminade's Spanish Serenade enchants with elegance and southern color. Rhythmic finesse and melodic charm lend the work a dance-like lightness.
The finale is Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dance – full of fire, rhythmic energy, and folkloric colors, a powerful and rousing conclusion to the evening.
