TSCHAIKOWSKY - RACHMANINOW
Russian Recital
Yulia SAVRASOVA (mezzo-soprano), Vasilis TSIATSIANIS (piano)
The recital ‘Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninoff’ is dedicated to two giants of Russian musical history, whose vocal works rank among the most emotionally charged and technically demanding in the repertoire. In the intimate and historic atmosphere of the Protected content
Museum, mezzo-soprano Yulia Savrasova and pianist Vasilis Tsiatsianis present a selection of exquisite romances, ranging from deep melancholy to burning passion.
The programme bridges the gap between the romantic soul of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the late-Romantic opulence of Sergei Rachmaninoff. Whilst Tchaikovsky’s songs often captivate with their psychological depth and simple yet poignant melodies, Rachmaninoff’s compositions elevate the piano part to an equal, orchestral partner to the voice.
The concert presents a cross-section of both composers’ song cycles.
Yulia Savrasova (mezzo-soprano): Known for her warm timbre and expressive interpretation, she lends the Russian texts the necessary authenticity and depth. Vasilis Tsiatsianis (piano) is an accomplished accompanist who has mastered the complex textures of the Russian piano school.
