ESPANA EN EL ALMA

Jose Maria CURBELO (Piano)

Spain is more than just a place – Spain is sound, rhythm, colour and passion. With *Spain in the Soul*, pianist José María Curbelo invites you to a piano recital that delves deep into the musical soul of Spain.

At the heart of the programme is Manuel de Falla, whose 150th birthday is celebrated in Protected content . His music combines folk music, dance, poetry and dramatic expressiveness in an unmistakable way – and continues to shape our image of the Spanish musical landscape to this day.

A fascinating musical panorama unfolds around de Falla: from the poetic elegance of Isaac Albéniz, through the passionate intensity of Enrique Granados, to the colourful musical language of Joaquín Turina. The programme is complemented by works by Federico Mompou and the contemporary composer Alexis Soriano, who each develop the Spanish tradition in their own unique way.

The result is an evening full of contrasts: between tender melancholy and fiery energy, between delicate musical poetry and rhythmic passion. The highlight is de Falla’s famous *Danza ritual del fuego* – music of hypnotic power, full of fervour, movement and inner fire. In short: a concert evening for anyone who wants to be swept away, moved and transported to other worlds by music.
