BIKE Trip ! Oosterweel Ring Works - Paperclip View
The recently opened lookout tower next to the Antwerp Maritime Academy (Zeevaartschool) gives an excellent view on the works in progress on the 'paperclip' point.
The tunnel under the river Schelt has an enormous opening at the right bank, allowing for traffic to exit/access the highway. Because the tunnel level is kept deep and the traffic has to drive down, an enormous roundabout is made allowing traffic to get on the chosen level. The satelite view shows a paperclip look, hence the nickname. No doubt, this is the most impressive part of the Oosterweel tunnel project.
This time of year and the actual status are ideal to explain and visualize a part of the historic works to close the ring around Antwerp.

!!! There is no car park near the viewpoint tower !!!
7pm : We ride by bike about 10 minutes to the look out tower where I give information on the works.
Afterwards, 8pm, we return and have a drink at Protected content
