Movies at Brattle: Possession

Isabelle Adjani is rightfully esteemed for her physically and emotionally gruelling performance in Andrzej Zulawski’s apocalyptic breakup nightmare, but Neill deserves much credit as well. Neill plays a spy who returns from a mission to his wife (Adjani) admitting to an affair and leaving with their young son. Soon both husband and wife descend into a literal hell of jealousy and deceit, complete with tentacled monsters and murderous doppelgangers.
