Cara Anna Magnani

“Dear Anna Magnani…” is not a biography of Anna Magnani but rather a free collocation of fragments not chronologically ordered and assembled outside any narrative logic.
with Caterina Costantini , Carlo Ettorre and Emiliano Ottaviani
Dramaturgy and Directed by Caterina Costantini
The musical detachment, the interpretative flash, the commercial obtained from shreds of real life impose themselves on the "story" and ensure that the story proceeds by analogies and existential digressions, passages from Magnani's repertoire, theatrical transcriptions of film passages, songs and parodies taken from the world of the magazine.
There are also poems, memories, judgments dedicated to the actress by directors and writers such as Eduardo De Filippo, Federico Fellini, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Luchino Visconti.
Rome is the background to the evergreen myth of Magnani: but Magnani is not just Rome; Magnani is the France of Renoir's “The Golden Carriage”, she is the America of Tennessee Williams, she is the personification of the Great Mediterranean Mother.
Here: that Magnani who inspired a certain respect close to discomfort in Fellini is the Magnani of the Mediterranean myth, she is the gypsy, the Carmen, the Vergian she-wolf, the feral Assunta Spina, she is the strong woman close to Filumena Marturano.
