The Dinner by Herman Koch

Let us read a Dutch contemporary writer !
Two couples meet at a fancy restaurant for the purpose of discussing their children and their actions. A dinner that starts pretty normal turns into a chilling tale of abuse, need for control and ignorance/refusal to face reality.

Of course we will read the English version but if you read the Dutch one is of course also fine. Tip: If you do not have time read/finish the book you can watch the film The Dinner from Protected content . It is two hours....
It is based on the book but set in USA, whereas the original is set in the Netherlands. But the main themes are the same in book and film, and those questions are great to have a discussion about!
