Dear Hikers,
The River Rhine holds a special place in German history....there are lots of romantic feelings and, almost certainly, many more headaches originating in the consumption of the famous wine.

Let's check out a small part of the river and sample some of the local produce. We shall meet at the train station in Mainz-Kastel and hike along the banks of the river to Eltville. Our reward for defying the cold weather will be a glass or two of Riesling. The hike is about 17 km long, details can be gathered here:

We shall meet on the platform of the railway station in Mainz-Kastel. Do not be confused...it is actually located in Wiesbaden?!?! Both the RB10 and S1 call at this station.

Pack warm clothes, snacks and something to drink.
CU you soon,
