Dear Hikers,
South of Darmstadt, we will explore the western edge of the Odenwald forest. It is a region with great vistas aross the Rhine, lots of castles and, as you may have guessed, a good supply of wine. Our hike will take us from Zwingenberg up the highest mountain, the Melibokus. After having enjoyed the splendid view from the top, we will continue to Heppenheim and shall explore several castles along the trail. All in all, we shall cover about 21 km.

The reward for our efforts will be a visit to the annual Bergsträßer Weinmarkt, the largest wine festival in the region.

We shall meet on the platform of the railway station in Zwingenberg. Getting there from Frankfurt or Mainz is straight-forward. I will post suitable connections in due time.

We will be on the move for several hours so don't forget to bring enough drinks and some snacks.
