Visit to the most valuable and well-preserved example of a private theater in an eighteenth-century villa in our region, declared to be the very best location for acoustics. Expression of the cultural dynamism of Enlightenment, the theater was created by Giovan Francesco Aldrovandi, amateur actor, writer in love with art. The theater opened in Protected content the tragedy "Alzira" written by Voltaire back in Protected content , translated by his father-in-law Vincenzo Fontanelli, belonging to the court of the Este family in Modena.
On a rectangular plan, two orders of balconies unfold in an uninterrupted U-shape. The refinement of the environment is given by the delicacy of the pastel colors of the frescoes and the sinuous bodies of twenty tritons and caryatids that support the balconies. In the hands of these figures leaned lanterns, garlands of flowers, twigs placed on the occasion of celebrations.
