Faenza in Clay: A Journey through Art, Tradition and Design

9:10 a.m. – Departure from Bologna
10:15 a.m. – Arrival in Faenza

10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. – Guided tour of the MIC – International Museum of Ceramics, the world’s largest museum devoted to ceramics. Its extraordinary collection spans centuries, cultures and continents, tracing the evolution of ceramics as an art form, craft and expression of design.

Alongside Faenza’s celebrated ceramic tradition, the museum houses more than 60,000 works, dating from the fourth millennium BCE to the present day. Highlights include Renaissance maiolica, collections from the Pre-Columbian, Islamic, Asian and European worlds, and works by major twentieth-century masters such as Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Léger, Dalí, Burri and Fontana.

1:00–2:30 p.m. – Lunch at a traditional trattoria featuring local specialities.

2:45–4:00 p.m. – Visit to the home and studio of Italian-Swiss artist Gian Franco Morini, a fascinating space where ceramics, sculpture, ironwork and nature come together, on the occasion of the Argillà exhibition.

The programme also includes a visit to the nearby four-star Hotel Vittoria, whose interiors feature dedicated spaces celebrating art and Faenza’s ceramic heritage.
