Canoeing Tour 2025

Hi, everyone. We're organizing the Protected content tour.

WHEN: on August 23rd, that’s a Saturday.

MEETING POINT: Riegel EINSTIEG ELZ in Riegel am Kaiserstuhl

TIME: at 11 AM. The company will tell us the exact time a few days before the tour.

DIRECTIONS: You can drive or ride the S11 train from Freiburg Hbf at 10:02 AM.

THE TOUR: The tour consists in floating/paddling down the river Elz for about 3.5 hours. There’s a rest stop halfway, where we can snack on something. In the second part of the tour, we have to get off the canoes and carry them over a weir, which adds to the adventure. From the end point the company drives us back either to the parking lot in Riegel or to the nearest train station so that we can ride the train back to Freiburg.

COST: 30 euro per person. This includes the canoe rental, paddles, live vest, and transfer (to train station/parking lot).

This event is highly dependent on weather conditions.

Some suggestions:
- swimming shorts or clothes that can get wet
- cap and sunglasses
- towel
- sunscreen and insect spray (we took the tour last year, and there were no mosquitos)
- Water shoes come in handy
- watertight bag (for your phone and wallet. There is a watertight container on the canoe, though)
- A bottle of water and some snacks

Please note that we are neither your canoeing guide nor teacher. You will take full responsibility in case of any accident!
