Two years ago, Upper West Siders mourned the closing of Lincoln Plaza Cinemas, the dingy art house theater where New Yorkers came to worship Federico Fellini, Jean-Luc Godard, and Satyajit Ray. But as the city marched on with cold indifference, a band of seniors and retirees who live in the neighborhood refused to accept its demise and founded New Plaza Cinema.

We are pleased to invite you to celebrate with us our 2nd Anniversary event / fundraiser and screening of “Cinema Paradiso” at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space, 95th & Broadway, a beloved award-winning Italian film with uncanny relevance to recent events affecting New Plaza.

All ticket holders who pay $30 or more will be treated to the award winning Italian film Cinema Paradiso, It will be followed by a post film Q&A led by three time Emmy winner Sara Lukinson, an expert in Italian Cinema. Employed by the Kennedy Center for 30 years and teaching Italian cinema at NYU in Protected content , Ms. Lukinson is a compelling speaker and we can’t wait for you to meet her. Following the Q&A, you will have an opportunity to enjoy a special wine, cheese and dessert event.
