Virtual Cinema : ZEN (The Life of Zen Master Dogen)
Hello everyone, I hope all is well and keeping healthy.
Here is a movie to share with all. It’s about a story of monk's life.
A monk named Dogen (Kantarou Nakamura) travels to 13th century China in search of true Buddhism, then brings the arts of Zen meditation to Japan.
The story begins when Dogen (Nakamura Kantaro), a boy of 8, at the time, his mother's death bed and Dogen got her final request from mother to find the way out of the suffering from strife, sickness and fear of death in the living world.
Dogen is a famous monk, but I have learned here that he had studied in the Song Dynasty. His mastery of the Buddhist path is a wonderful thing, and his manliness to follow a path of faith is respectful. The film depicts Dogen's life and struggles. I hope you will feel familiar with Dogen, Japanese history, and a part of Buddhism.
