🎼 Viivi Maria Saarenkylä Trio 🇫🇮🎹🎤
Accordion, vocals, electric guitar 🎸 & percussion 🥁
🌍 Nordic folk + improvisation + Latin vibes
Accordionist Viivi Maria Saarenkylä, along with her fellow musicians, brings an engaging concert to Villa Lante, where the accordion leads the way on a journey through emotionally charged atmospheres. The program features primarily music composed by Saarenkylä, in which Nordic folk influences and improvisation intertwine with nuances of the rich accordion traditions of Latin America.
The trio's expression ranges from intimate, chamber sounds to intense rhythms and driving grooves. The music alternates between virtuosic instrumental pieces and narrative songs, in which Saarenkylä's lyrics blend with the ensemble's lively, interactive sound. The result is a multifaceted sonic journey into the world of contemporary folk music: boundless, curious, and profoundly global.
The concert is organized in collaboration with the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.
