Cultural Event: Marcel Dzama - A Trip to the Moon
Dear All,
Tuesday, May 5 — 8pm
Screening of selected works by Marcel Dzama
Come and discover a selection of seven films by Canadian artist Marcel Dzama at the Canadian Cultural Centre. Especially ones rarely screened in France—offers a mix of artistic, cultural, and intellectual benefits that go well beyond a typical film viewing.
Not just a connoisseur of early cinema, but he is also a sensitive soul with an affinity for surrealism, early modernism, pop culture, illustration and underground music. His whimsical work is instantly recognisable, by turns wondrous, cruel, poetic and political.
His films often echo:
Silent film aesthetics
Handcrafted sets and costumes
Dreamlike, non-linear storytelling
This gives you a deeper appreciation of how early cinematic language can be reimagined in contemporary art.
